A dam was built across the River Tummel in the 1950s... but how would the river's salmon swim back upstream? The answer was a fish ladder: a sequence of 34 pools allowing the fish to jump to the top, step by step. See the fish (hopefully - it's the best time of the year for them) on the ladder, and find out how the water powers Pitlochry at the Pitlochry Dam Visitors' Centre, on Armoury Road, between 9.30am and 5pm.
